As our Every Day in Lombardy campaign comes to a close, we are thrilled to share the news that Lombardy will be host to the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The 2026 Winter Games are known as “Milano-Cortina 2026” and will feature competitions across Sondrio province in Valtellina.
Valtellina is home to some of Italy’s most famous slopes, including the legendary Stelvio ski course or “piste,” considered to be the second hardest course in the world.
Major races will be held in both Bormio and Livigno communes, including 5 medal events.
And in what is perhaps the most exciting news for Italian fans of the Olympics is that Milano-Cortina 2026 will be the first-ever Winter Games to include ski mountaineering as an official sport and competition.
