Italian chefs in Houston

On Wednesday, September 9, the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce South Central (IACC) is hosting a virtual dinner featuring three of Houston’s top Italian chefs, Giancarlo Ferrara (Amalfi), Angelo Cuppone (ROMA), and Roberto Crescini (Fresco Café Italiano).

Each of them will be preparing a classic Italian dish using authentic Italian ingredients and recipes.

Italian food and wine historian Jeremy Parzen will be moderating the event and leading the discussion.

The IACC has invited members of the city’s food and wine media to “attend” via a Zoom link. The foods and wines will be delivered to each participant via a courier.

As each of our participating chefs will tell you, true Italian cuisine must be prepared using authentic Italian food products. Knowing how to use those ingredients in the kitchen is an essential element in creating genuine Italian dishes. Each of our chefs is considered an expert in the field of Italian foodways. The IACC couldn’t be more pleased to be featuring their excellent and delicious cooking!

This event is dedicated to the promotion of authentic Italian products and quality Italian food service, and is one of the most important events of the campaign for the Extraordinary Italian Taste promoted by the Foreign Ministry. This is the fifth-annual event and takes place in over 20 countries around the world during the month of September, including wine and food tasting dinners, masterclasses, and educational tours in Italy in addition to social media campaigns.

Prosciutto di Parma, Pecorino, and Mortadella skewers with marinated artichokes, arancini, and pizzette.

Lasagne alla Bolognese (Amalfi)

Homemade lasagne with San Marzano tomato ragù, béchamel, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana,
and Parmigiano Reggiano.

Porchetta with Roast Potatoes (ROMA)

Slow-roasted pork and potatoes seasoned
with classic Italian herbs and extra-virgin olive oil.

Neapolitan Babà (Fresco Café Italiano)

Citrus-scented babà with
vanilla cream and mixed berries.
