The Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Texas (IACC) is proud to present a tasting of native grape varieties from Umbria and Sicily on Tuesday, November 19 in Dallas (Adelmo’s) and Wednesday, November 20 in Houston (Vinology).
In the light of the growing interest in indigenous grape varieties that has taken shape over the last decade, the IACC selected two “off-the-beaten track” estates — the Bocale winery from Umbria and the Gaglio Vignaioli from Sicily — for this exclusive tasting and seminar.
Located in Umbria’s famed Montefalco appellation, Bocale makes Sagrantino, one of central Italy’s most underappreciated red grape varieties. Situated in Messina province, a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean, Gaglio’s focus is classic Nero d’Avola but it also grows and bottles grape varieties that many American wine professionals have never tasted, like Nocera.
Italian-focused food and wine historian and writer Jeremy Parzen, author of the popular wine blog DoBianchi.com, will be pouring and speaking about the wines at both events
