The featured speakers include Antonella Ricco (below), a New York-based chef and nutritional consultant who specializes in Italian gastronomy. An expert on Italian food products and an ambassador for the Extraordinary Taste Campaign, Antonella will discuss the art of food and wine pairing and will share her experiences as woman working in the world of food and wine.
She will be joined by Myka Borgogni-Aultman, a sales manager for leading Italian wine importer Kobrand; Kristin Bryden, a winemaker currently working in Santa Barbara; and Jenna Donatiello, a Texas-based importer of Italian wine.
Italian food and wine historian and wine writer for Houston Press and Houstonia magazine, Jeremy Parzen, Ph.D., will moderate the panel discussion.
The Extraordinary Italian Taste campaign is “aimed to promote authentic Italian food in the United States,” according to a press release issued by the Italian Trade Commission.
“There is a noticeable change in consumer trends,” says trade commissioner Maurizio Forte. “Americans are increasingly enjoying authentic Italian food, the Mediterranean diet, which is tastier and healthier. We now need to take advantage of this trend. It’s the right time to go full-speed ahead.”
Co-sponsored by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Texas, the luncheon will feature authentic Italian food products and dishes paired classic Italian wines. Each of the panelists has selected the pairings especially for the event.
