Congratulations to Rachel DelRocco of Camerata, the best sommelier in Texas!

Congratulations to wine professional Rachel DelRocco of Houston who won the Texsom “Best Sommelier” title this week at the Texsom conference in Irving (Dallas-Fort Worth), Texas!

She works at the popular Houston wine bar, Camerata (above), where Italian wines are regularly featured on the wine list.

Until last year, the competition was known as the “Best Sommelier in Texas” competition. But it is now open to wine professionals working in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico as well as Texas.

With an even broader field of competitors, the stakes and pressure to win this coveted title have only become more intense.

No one outside of Texas has won the title and it remains one of the most sought-after wine trade accolades in the U.S. today.

The competition and the annual Texsom conference are part of the rapidly growing wave of interest in fine wine in Texas today.

Hundreds of wine professionals from across the United States attend the conference each year, including Masters Sommeliers and Masters of Wine who lead seminars and tastings.

And with the increased interest in fine wine in general, the focus on Italian wine only continues to grow as well.

There’s never been a better time to work in the fine wine industry in the U.S. and Texas. And there’s never been a better time for Italian wine.

Congratulations to Rachel DelRocco and Camerata for this incredible achievement!
