The weeklong trip gave the writers, including lifestyle and food bloggers, the opportunity to experience not only authentic Umbrian wines and food products but also classic Umbrian gastronomic traditions.
The program of meetings, tastings, and meals was organized in conjunction with the Italian government’s True Italian Taste campaign, an initiative conceived as a means to promote and raise awareness of genuine Italian foods and foodways.
The group of writers and the tour was the subject of widespread media coverage in Italy (see this PDF aggregate of articles devoted to the program, including bylines by some of Umbria’s highest-profile media outlets).
The Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Texas was thrilled to sponsor a Houston-based blogger as part of the group.
Houston is one of America’s leading markets for Italian food and wine and was recently called the new “southern capital of cool” by GQ magazine, in part because of the city’s vibrant and ever growing fine dining and food scene.
The IACC was proud to have Texas represented in this elite group of influencers.
