Eataly in Dallas serves one of the best meals of the year for Authentic Italian Table!

This profile is part of ongoing series about the seminars and dinner the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce South Central and the Italian Consul General of Houston presented at Terra restaurant in Eataly on June 3, 2021. The event was made possible thanks in part to support from the Prosciutto di Parma Consortium, the Pecorino Toscano Consortium, the Bocale winery, and Vecchio Amaro del Capo. The event and associated seminars are part of the Extraordinary Italian Taste, an ongoing Italian government campaign to promote awareness of authentic Italian culinary products and foodways.

It was a night to remember on Thursday, June 3 at Terra restaurant at Eataly in Dallas. Not only was it the first in-person dinner to be held at the venue since early 2020. But it was also one of Eataly’s biggest events ever: Three chefs served a rick multi-course authentic Italian menu to more than 100 guests, including a who’s-who of the Italian community in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Earlier in the afternoon Prosciutto di Parma North American Ambassador Francesco Lupo presented two Prosciutto di Parma seminars in Eataly’s “Scuola” tasting kitchen — the first in-person tasting since early 2020. It was followed by the ones on Pecorino Toscano PDO led by our very own food and wine historian, Jeremy Parzen. The foods were paired with wines from the Bocale winery in Umbria. The winery’s Trebbiano Spoletino and Montefalco were presented by Texas wine educator and friend to the IACC Nick Blumer.

But the dinner was the true showstopper.

Chefs Alfio Longo and Andrea Rodella, both Dallas-based Italians, were joined by Terra’s executive chef Michael Lawson as they presented what is sure to be remembered as one of the best menus of the year.

The IACC would like to share its warm thanks with the entire staff at Eataly for their professionalism and enthusiasm in presenting both the seminars and dinner. Even if it hadn’t been the first in-person gathering there in more than a year, it would have been remarkable for the size of the group and the excellent food. It wasn’t an easy feat but the Eataly staff pulled it off without a hitch!

Thanks to all who helped make it possible. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
