This profile is part of ongoing series of posts leading up to the dinner the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce South Central and the Italian Consul General of Houston are presenting at Terra restaurant in Eataly on June 3. The event was made possible thanks in part to support from the Prosciutto di Parma Consortium, the Pecorino Toscano Consortium, the Bocale winery, and Vecchio Amaro del Capo. The event and associated seminars are part of the Extraordinary Italian Taste, an ongoing Italian government campaign to promote awareness of authentic Italian culinary products and foodways.
Another one of our guests of honor attending the Extraordinary Italian Taste dinner, June 3, at Terra restaurant at Eataly is good friend of the chamber Richard Gussoni, the honorary Italian consul for Dallas/Ft. Worth and and founder and CEO of one of the most successful high-end catering and events planning companies in the state of Texas — Culinaire International.
As early as the late 1990s, his company had emerged as one of the go-to caterers in Dallas/Ft. Worth. But Richard’s family’s legacy as chefs to luminaries and celebrities stretches all the way back to Italy where one of his relatives was once the head chef at the Vatican.
As one top Dallas food writer wrote at the time:
- If you haven’t heard OF Richard Gussoni, you have probably tasted his food at the Meyerson Symphony Center, the Belo Mansion, or attending a wedding at the Aldredge House in East Dallas. His thriving catering and restaurant management business is also responsible for feeding folks at the Stale Capitol, Love Field and many private functions.
Richard also opened one of his city’s culinary landmarks, the now legendary restaurant Nicola’s, back in 1994.
Today, beyond his duties as CEO of one of the country’s leading caterers, Richard also serves as the honorary consul at the Consulate of Italy in Dallas.
We couldn’t be more thrilled to be hosting Richard, a cherished friend of the chamber and one of Texas’ leading Italian citizens.
The Extraordinary Italian Taste is an ongoing Italian Foreign Ministry campaign that promotes awareness of genuine Italian foods throughout the world.
